Okay, let's start
Background
The overall problem I was tasked with addressing is that the interface
is not user friendly, leading to difficulties for users to get to what they need.
I checked in the interface what are the problems that cause difficulties
for
users in navigating and interacting with the interface.
Business goals & Strategy
Main goals
User experience
Enhancements for smoother user navigation on the site.
Increasing conversion rates
Optimizing the site's call-to-action funnels.
Design
Revamping the website's design and appearance.
KPIs
Reducing inquiries of questions
Reducing process time on the website
User understanding
About the users
There are several types of users with different needs on the site:
01 Scientists in the program conduct funded research and are
required to fill out forms and follow the instructions on the website.
02 Scientists with potential for research funding are requested to monitor the opening of new programs.
03 Scientists who only want to participate in events and
programs offered by the program.
04 Potential donors for whom the site serves as a business card.
"Site instructions unclear and navigation challenging."
"Hard to follow site info, affecting funding and research decisions."
"Hard to find events and programs due to disorganized information."
Let's overcome challenges
The Problems
There are three main problems:
01 / Platform
Problematic website platform for content managers, general browsing issues.
02 / Structure
The site's architecture impede users from efficiently finding their needs.
03 / Content
The website's content is disorganized and lacks accessibility for users.
Old design
My favorite part...
The Solution
01 / Platform
We migrated the GIF website to the WordPress platform.
WordPress provides a user-friendly interface for site content managers,
allowing them to easily make changes and updates without requiring
technical expertise or coding knowledge.
Additionally, WordPress allows for the installation of various plugins that
can enhance website performance and speed up loading times, thereby
improving the user experience.
02 / Structure
Together with my PM, we enhanced the website navigation by
reevaluating its architecture and understanding it anew.
As a result, users can now easily find the information they seek.
I created two navigation options to determine which is more suitable
for the site's users:
Option A - Submenu
Option B - Open menu
I chose option A
I conducted a user check and
found that this option is more suitable for the product.
03 / Content
We conducted a thorough reorganization of duplicated content on the
website, which had caused confusion among users. Additionally, we
implemented aquick filter and enhanced accessibility of information for
different users through the homepage,
such as access to details of new events and prominent tabs for
scientists in the program.
Central operations
The two main actions at the top of the homepage to
facilitate regular users and reduce unnecessary searching.
Impact Detail
We promoted this data on the homepage to
highlight the organization's key achievements and impact.
Fast filter
Enhancing user access to specific content.
Content Organization
We arranged content that appeared
excessively on the website multiple times.
